Deer Meetings Scheduled Across Nebraska in December

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission invites hunters and landowners to attend a public informational meeting to discuss deer issues. Meetings are scheduled in each Game and Parks district. LINCOLN, Neb. – The first application period for big game hunting permits begins May 20 at 1 p.m. Central Time and runs through June 7. A summary of the application period: Deer – Residents and nonresidents may apply for one permit in any one draw unit. The draw units are: Republican Mule Deer, Platte Mule Deer Conservation Area (MDCA), Platte Whitetail, Frenchman MDCA and Frenchman Whitetail. Elk Tag to Be Auctioned at Nebraska Big Game Society Dinner

LINCOLN, Neb. – A Nebraska resident bull elk tag will be auctioned off at the Nebraska Big Game Society annual meeting and dinner April 25 in Lincoln. The event is from 5-9 p.m. at Wilderness Ridge, 1800 Wilderness Woods Place. Other auction items include Canadian and Alaskan fishing trips and lifetime hunt/fish permit with habitat stamp. Commissioners Table Big Game Recommendations

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Board of Commissioners tabled big game regulation recommendations at its March 8 meeting in Kearney. Agency staff will make minor amendments to the recommendations for the board to consider at its May 24 meeting in Chadron. The recommendations brought to the commissioners March 8 included a significant reduction of antlerless deer bonus tags in an effort to lower harvest in 2013.
