Beyond BOW Self-Defense Workshop Scheduled

LINCOLN – Women are invited to learn self-defense skills at a Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop Feb. 15 in Lincoln. This beginner-level class is for ages 16 and up and is geared toward protection indoors and outdoors. This workshop will cover verbal, nonverbal and physical techniques for preventing assaults. Beyond BOW Sandhills Tank Float Set for Aug. 24

LINCOLN, Neb. – Women are invited to enjoy a relaxing tank float down the Sandhills’ Middle Loup River on Aug. 24. They may bring their friends or make new ones in this Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman event. The two-hour trip begins in Mullen at 9 a.m. and ends with a Dutch oven meal. The fee is $35. Women May Learn Shotgunning Skills

LINCOLN, Neb. – A workshop for women to learn or hone shotgunning skills is scheduled for July 13 at Fort Kearney Shooting Sports Complex at 115th and Poole Ave., Kearney. This Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program will include trap, skeet, 5-stand and sporting clays. The workshop, for women age 16 and older, costs $40 and includes a meal following an afternoon of shooting. Beyond BOW Archery Classes Scheduled in May

LINCOLN, Neb. – A Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman archery class will take place at Platte River State Park each Wednesday in May. Participants may attend any of the classes, which are: May 8, Introduction to Archery; May 15, Shopping for Women’s Bows; May 22, Tuning Your Bow; and May 29, Fun with Archery. Platte River State Park to Host Beyond BOW Workshop

LINCOLN, Neb. – Experience Platte River State Park in the spring with a daylong Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop April 27. The workshop will include horseback riding for beginners, Dutch oven cooking and shooting skills (archery, shotgun and rifle). Participants must be at least 18 years of age. The $50 registration fee includes meals, but not camping or lodging. A park entry permit is required. Registration and fees are required by April 19. Beyond BOW Adventures Scheduled

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program has several outdoor adventures planned for women this spring. On March 16 there will be a beginner bird-watching workshop at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium. On the same day there will be tank float down the Middle Loup River in the Sandhills. There will be a fly-fishing workshop March 30 at the aquarium and on April 6-7 a trip to the Sandhills to view sharptail grouse and prairie chickens. Register at NebraskaBOW.com.
