I mentioned over a month ago that this year was the 25th anniversary of our Aquatic Habitat Program.  I also mentioned at that time, that you would be hearing more about it.  Well, I have a video to share now: We have accomplished a lot in the past 25 years!  Without a doubt our fisheries, waters, anglers and all Nebraskans have benefitted! We are not done!  More work to do!

Once again, spreading a news item.  This will be of interest to some of you: Work on Main Ramp Area at Merritt SRA now set to begin June 27 A repair project at the Main Ramp Area at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area has been pushed back slightly. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will lower the water level at Wagon Train Reservoir 8 feet in preparation for the maintenance of the sediment basins later this fall. Visitors can expect the boat ramp and construction areas to be closed. The reservoir has experienced the degrading effects of sedimentation and the nutrients that come with it. In the past couple of years we have seen water levels in the sandhills unlike anything any of us remember.  Roads have been closed, valleys have been flooded, water has been everywhere.  I would not say water levels are low now, it is all relative.  Certainly they are lower. LINCOLN, Neb. – Boat ramp improvements at Swan Lake are complete, providing better angler access to this Holt County lake. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission improved the gravel boat ramp on the north side of the lake by placing articulated concrete mats over crushed rock to form a firm concrete bottom for boat access.
