Two watercraft inspection workshops scheduled

LINCOLN, Neb. – Watercraft inspection workshops are scheduled for Feb. 22 at Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area Visitor Center and March 1 at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will certify youth fishing instructors Aug. 20 at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium, 21502 W. Neb. Hwy. 31, Gretna, from 9 a.m. to noon. Youth fishing instructors will receive training and tools to conduct fishing clinics. These volunteers will have access to Nebraska Game and Parks’ loaner fishing equipment and educational materials for events, as well as receive program incentives. Fly Fishing School is June 20 at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium

LINCOLN – People looking to learn the basics of fly fishing are invited to attend Fly Fishing School on June 20 at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium and Schramm Park State Recreation Area. This six-hour class will be presented by the Cornhusker Fly Fishers beginning at 9 a.m. It will cover such things as casting, terminology, fly selection, catching fish, strategies, fish food, and ethical handling and releasing of fish. Walleye Fishing Workshop Set for March 12 at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium

LINCOLN – The public is invited to a free walleye fishing workshop March 12 at Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium near Gretna. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission fisheries outreach program manager Daryl Bauer will present the 7 p.m. workshop, which will include a discussion on walleye habitat, management and fishing techniques. Stop the Presses Again, Another Big Fish!

LINCOLN – The snakes of Nebraska will be displayed and discussed during a workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 19-20 at the Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium. Dennis Ferraro, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln county extension educator, will display 29 species of snakes found in Nebraska and answer questions about the reptiles.
