LINCOLN, Neb. – Join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission in investigating ways to use literature books to engage children in meaningful lessons during the virtual Pollinators and Paperbacks educator workshop April 27. This free workshop, designed for preschool aged formal and informal educators and daycare providers, will connect literature books with simple, long-term science investigations. Gray wolf confirmed in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. — Genetic testing results recently confirmed a large canine killed Jan. 28, 2021, near Ueling, was a gray wolf. The female wolf had been legally shot by coyote hunters, who contacted the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Commission to consider deer, antelope and elk hunting recommendations

Duck hunters will choose from two bag limits this year

LINCOLN, Neb. — Duck hunters in Nebraska and South Dakota will choose between two daily bag limits — two tiers of limits — before waterfowl season this year. The new “two-tier” duck hunting regulations recently adopted by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and allows hunters to select between Tier I or Tier II when they register for their Harvest Information Program (HIP) number. Long Pine SRA to temporarily close to public for tree removal

LINCOLN, Nebraska — Long Pine State Recreation Area will be closed to the public between April 11-18 for cedar tree removal. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will begin removing and grinding trees near the park’s nearly 30 campsites, then will continue working to remove cedars across the 153-acre tract in north central Nebraska’s Brown County. Weigand Campground services temporarily limited at Lewis and Clark SRA

LINCOLN, Nebraska — Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area near Crofton will have reduced services at Weigand Campground while the sewer lift station is replaced. The lift work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by May 16. Park guests can still camp at the Weigand Campground and will have access to electric hookup with nearby water; however, the comfort station and camper dump station are closed. Road construction to begin at Chadron State Park

CHADRON, Neb. — Visitors to Chadron State Park will be greeted with road construction in coming weeks. Beginning April 12 and ending in late May, construction workers will be resurfacing the park’s 5.6 miles of asphalt roads, campsites and other pavement. Gregg Galbraith, park superintendent, said visitors might not be able to access certain areas of the grounds during construction, but that the roads will be much more enjoyable to drive upon when the project is finished.
