The Candlelight Tour on Nov. 2 is back on the calendar at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park (SHP) near Fort Calhoun. Alexandria State Recreation Area (SRA) near Fairbury will remain open through Oct. 20 to accommodate a Halloween event Oct. 18-19. Nebraska City civic leaders have reached an agreement with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to provide resources and funding necessary to stage these and other events. LINCOLN, Neb. – Tree stand use by hunters in Nebraska is on the rise. So is the number of injuries from the use of tree stands. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission encourages people who hunt from an elevated stand to use a full body harness/fall-arrest system approved by the Treestand Manufacturers Association (TMA). LINCOLN, Neb. – Father Hupp Wildlife Management Area in Thayer County will close temporarily for a wetland renovation and development project, effective immediately. The area will close for all public activity, including hunting, and appropriate signage will be installed. The area is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Oct. 21, 2013, depending on the progress of construction activities. The enhancement of this wetland area will greatly increase its use by migratory waterfowl and provide more hunting opportunities.

LINCOLN, Neb. – There will be a public informational meeting Sept. 25 in Denton regarding the upcoming aquatic rehabilitation project at Conestoga Lake. LINCOLN, Neb. – The AppleJack Art Show is scheduled for Sept. 21-22 at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park in Nebraska City. The event runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 21 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 22. The art show is a celebration of art and features artists from Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. A park entry permit is required. The art show is one of many events scheduled for the annual AppleJack Festival in Nebraska City.

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Family Rendezvous and Muzzleloader Sight-In will be Oct. 13 at the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex at Platte River State Park near Louisville.
