Arnold Wins 2014 Cornhusker Cup

DONIPHAN – Nathan Arnold of Omaha Creighton Prep on Saturday won the Cornhusker Cup at the 45th Cornhusker Trapshoot. Combined with his perfect 75 shot Friday, Arnold earned the overall Cup with a two-day 148-for-150 after shooting a 73 in excellent conditions in the handicap Saturday. “I was a little bit nervous,” the senior said. “That’s what made it fun, though. Krzyzanowski Wins 16-Yard Title at Cornhusker Trapshoot

DONIPHAN – Zack Krzyzanowski of North Platte won a five-person shoot-off Friday in the senior high division’s 16-yard targets at the 45th Annual Cornhusker Trapshoot. He broke all 75 targets in regulation, and then missed just one in the shoot-off. The top 20 scorers Friday missed one target or less. Voigtman Wins Junior High Division at Cornhusker Trapshoot

DONIPHAN – Dagen Voigtman of Louisville won the junior high division at the 45th Cornhusker Trapshoot on Thursday at the home grounds of the Nebraska Trapshooting Association. He broke 98 of 100 targets at 16 yards to win the title. Voigtman earned two first-place trophies. He led the Louisville Gold squad of Ryan Campbell, Baylor Meisinger, Spencer Warner and Chase Dittberner to the team title. Together they broke 435 of 500 targets. Valentine Kids’ Fishing Clinic Is May 3

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Valentine Lions Club will host a youth fishing clinic at the Valentine State Fish Hatchery on May 3. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the clinic starting at 10 a.m., rain or shine.  Free rod/reel combos provided by the Nebraska Walleye Association and donations from other local sponsors will be given to the first 75 registrants. Game and Parks Commission Announces Marketing Grant Recipients

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has awarded 11 grants totaling nearly $100,000 for the promotion of outdoor activities across the state. The Outdoor Marketing Grant program allows visitors bureaus, historical groups and other organizations to apply for grant funds to promote outdoor recreation programs, events and opportunities. In Nebraska, outdoor recreation contributes approximately $2.4 billion annually to the state’s economy. Volunteers Needed to Clean Up Branched Oak SRA May 3

LINCOLN – Volunteers are invited to Branched Oak State Recreation Area (SRA) on May 3 to clean the area for spring on Take Pride in America Day. 45th Cornhusker Trapshoot Is May 1-3

LINCOLN – The 45th annual Cornhusker Trapshoot is May 1-3 on the home grounds of the Nebraska Trapshooting Association (NTA) in Doniphan. For the third year in a row, more than 2,000 shooters are expected to compete. Competition will take place in individual and team divisions. LINCOLN – Life at an 1820s military post will be depicted at Living History Weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park on May 3-4.
