Project Improving Trout Stream in Flood-damaged Park

The effects of torrential spring flooding has dampened activity at Harrison’s Coffee Park for months, but thanks to a cooperative effort between local, state and federal officials there’s been a lot of movement at the remote attraction in Sioux County in recent days. State Record Paddlefish Snagged by Malcolm Man

LINCOLN – A Malcolm, Neb., man has set a state fish record for the largest paddlefish caught by rod and reel. The record was certified by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Tom Keller snagged a 113-pound, 4-ounce paddlefish on Oct. 9 while fishing the Gavins Point Dam tailwaters of the Missouri River in northeast Nebraska. The fish measured 49.75 inches in length. That fish broke the previous state record of 107 pounds, 12 ounces set in 2011. Other fish …

LINCOLN – Hunters across the state saw noticeably improved hunting for pheasant and quail on the opening weekend of the season Oct. 31 – Nov. 1, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. LINCOLN – Nebraska’s fifth annual special youth pheasant hunt was a success this year, with mentors providing youth with a safe, positive and successful hunting experience. LINCOLN – Mormon Island State Recreation Area (SRA) south of Grand Island cannot be accessed via Exit 312 on eastbound Interstate 80 due to construction. The westbound exit is open, however. According to the Nebraska Department of Roads, the eastbound exit ramp will be closed for road construction for three weeks.
