Moose Moved from North Platte to Wildlife Management Area

LINCOLN — Continued sightings of a moose within the city limits of North Platte have prompted Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officials to immobilize and relocate the moose to a wildlife management area. Producers Have Jan. 15 Deadline to Apply for Grassland Bird Habitat Funding

LINCOLN – Producers in south central and southeastern Nebraska have until Jan. 15 to apply for funding to help improve grasslands for grazing and wildlife. A partnership has been formed among the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Pheasants Forever, Audubon Nebraska, and other entities through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). Group Hikes Scheduled for New Year’s Day

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is inviting the public to ring in the New Year by enjoying a guided hike through one of the state’s scenic state park lands. First Day Hikes are scheduled at six Nebraska parks on New Year’s Day, part of a larger effort of the America’s State Parks alliance. LINCOLN – All Nebraska Game and Parks Commission offices will close for Christmas at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed all day on Dec. 25. The offices will reopen for business at 8 a.m. on Dec. 28. While the offices are closed, permits still may be purchased at OutdoorNebraska.org.

Hunters Advised That Telecheck Link Has Changed

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission would like to remind big game hunters that the link to the Telecheck website has changed. Telecheck may now be accessed at http://apps.outdoornebraska.gov/BgHarvest/. The Nebraska Telecheck Program allows hunters to check deer or antelope by telephone or online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners and staff are in the midst of the Rooster Roundup — a quest to hunt pheasants on public land throughout Nebraska. LINCOLN – Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officials confirmed a weekend sighting of a moose within the city limits of North Platte. The moose had been in the area for about a month before being spotted in town on Dec. 13, according to officials. Game and Parks biologists are communicating with local law enforcement about the moose’s whereabouts. If the opportunity presents itself, officials will attempt to direct the moose out of town.
