Trout to be stocked in two Panhandle lakes March 22

LINCOLN, Neb. – Two Panhandle lakes will be stocked with rainbow trout March 22, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The Rock Creek State Fish Hatchery will stock 1,400 10-inch trout at Bridgeport State Recreation Area northwest lake and 900 trout at the Riverside Discovery Center (zoo) pond in Scottsbluff. Trout stockings across Nebraska may be delayed because of inclement weather and widespread flooding, impacting roads and hatcheries. An updated scheduled will be provided when conditions improve. Management of five Missouri River WMAs to transfer from Commission back to Corps

LINCOLN, Neb. – The management of five wildlife management areas along the Missouri River will be transferred from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission back to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Game and Parks continues to assess damage to state park system following historic flooding

Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission continues to assess damage from recent flooding at parks and wildlife management areas throughout the state. Some state parks, state historical parks, state recreation areas and wildlife management areas located along rivers and streams in eastern and central Nebraska experienced flooded roads, campgrounds and buildings during the historic and catastrophic flooding of the past week. LINCOLN, Neb. – Spring rainbow trout stocking is beginning this week at five south-central Nebraska locations, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Commissioners approve waterfowl season recommendations

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved 2019 waterfowl hunting season recommendations at its March 15 meeting in Nebraska City. The approved recommendations moved the early teal season approximately one week later than in 2018 to accommodate weekend days. All other waterfowl season recommendations included only calendar date adjustments. Bighorn sheep lottery applications begin April 15

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will accept applications for a 2019 bighorn sheep lottery permit beginning April 15. The application period ends Aug. 2, and the permit will be drawn Aug. 28. A $29 nonrefundable application fee must accompany each application. Only Nebraska residents are eligible for the lottery. Apply at a Nebraska Game and Parks office or at OutdoorNebraska.org. The 2019 bighorn sheep season is Dec. 3-22.
