NGPC Offices Close at Noon on Dec. 24

LINCOLN – All Nebraska Game and Parks Commission offices will close for Christmas at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed all day on Dec. 25. The offices will reopen for business at 8 a.m. on Dec. 28. While the offices are closed, permits still may be purchased at OutdoorNebraska.org.

Hunters Advised That Telecheck Link Has Changed

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission would like to remind big game hunters that the link to the Telecheck website has changed. Telecheck may now be accessed at http://apps.outdoornebraska.gov/BgHarvest/. The Nebraska Telecheck Program allows hunters to check deer or antelope by telephone or online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All deer harvested outside the November firearm season must be checked via Telecheck, as manual check stations only are available for the November firearm season. Antelope …

Rooster Roundup: Northeastern Nebraska

Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners and staff are in the midst of the Rooster Roundup — a quest to hunt pheasants on public land throughout Nebraska. The fourth stop on their journey is described below. Commissioners Lynn Berggren and Bob Allen completed two days of upland hunting this afternoon in Antelope, Knox and Dixon counties. Cowboy Trail Master Plan Meeting in Rushville Rescheduled for Dec. 16

LINCOLN – The public informational meeting scheduled for Dec. 15 in Rushville on the development of a master plan for the Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail has been postponed until Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. because of inclement weather. The meeting will take place at the Security First Retail Center, 110 E. 2nd St. Staff from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Nebraska Tourism Commission will make short presentations at the beginning of the meeting. Game and Parks Surveying Deer Hunters

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is conducting a survey of Nebraska deer hunters Dec. 14 – Jan. 22, 2016. This survey is conducted every five years and is designed to gather hunter information about experiences, attitudes and opinions related to the 2015 deer season. The public’s input is important to Game and Parks and is another way in which hunters can participate in Nebraska’s deer management program. Hunters are the primary tool used to manage the state’s …

Moose Sighted in North Platte

LINCOLN – Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officials confirmed a weekend sighting of a moose within the city limits of North Platte. The moose had been in the area for about a month before being spotted in town on Dec. 13, according to officials. Game and Parks biologists are communicating with local law enforcement about the moose’s whereabouts. If the opportunity presents itself, officials will attempt to direct the moose out of town. Game and Parks Secures 3M Eco Grant for Environmental Education Trail

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has secured a grant to build a proposed Environmental Education Trail at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (SP) near Ashland. The self-guided Environmental Education Trail would be created to inform children about the interconnectedness of the natural world’s living and non-living components through interpretive signs and interactive stations that physically engage park guests and students. LINCOLN – Take your family or friends to the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex over the holidays to learn some new shooting skills or hone some existing ones.
