More than 75 people turned out for the Birds & Breakfast at Ponca State Park.  The Valentines Day special was offered with the opportunity to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count while staying at the Park. Four Omaha police officers received commendations January 18 at the Game and Parks Commission meeting in Omaha.  The citations of achievement, presented by Game and Parks Commissioner Ron Stave, were for their “…selfless action performed in the line of duty and in saving the lives of others.” Last November 18 at 12:30 p.m. the officers responded to a call of a capsized boat at Carter Lake.
