Valentines Days – Bird & Breakfast Special for the Bird Lovers

More than 75 people turned out for the Birds & Breakfast at Ponca State Park.  The Valentines Day special was offered with the opportunity to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count while staying at the Park. More than 65 people enjoyed the home-cooked breakfast made by the Park Superintendent & staff.  Afterwards, free guided birding tours by van were offered during morning, mid-morning and afternoon sessions.  Tours were led by Bill Huser, volunteer member of the Loess Hills Audubon …

Omaha Police Officers Receive Commendation for Rescue

Four Omaha police officers received commendations January 18 at the Game and Parks Commission meeting in Omaha.  The citations of achievement, presented by Game and Parks Commissioner Ron Stave, were for their “…selfless action performed in the line of duty and in saving the lives of others.” Last November 18 at 12:30 p.m. the officers responded to a call of a capsized boat at Carter Lake. Panhandle Gets Public Information Officer

Justin Haag will join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission as a public information officer for the Panhandle beginning Jan. 28. Haag’s duties include community and media relations, public information, and photography and writing for NEBRASKAland Magazine and all agency media. Haag, a lifetime resident of western Nebraska, comes to Game and Parks after 12 years at Chadron State College, where he was a communications coordinator for seven years and then media and public relations coordinator the past five. Youth Feedback – Youth Conservation Program a Great Learning Experience They Would Like to See Continued

[ Photo Gallery ] In May 2011, the Governor signed into effect the Nebraska Youth Conservation Program, also known as Legislative Bill 549. The goal of this program was to collaborate on the conservation and development of natural resources through the employment/education of Nebraska Youth. Julie Geiser is Game and Parks’ new Regional Public Information Officer who will be located in North Platte. Her position will cover west-central, western and southwest Nebraska and began Jan. 14. First Winterfest a Flurry of Fun and Festivities

Nguyen Fills Northeast Regional Public Information Position

Jenny Nguyen has been selected for the position of regional public information officer. Nguyen started with the agency on Jan. 14.
