I have some news about an Aquatic Habitat project and evaluation underway in the beautiful Pine Ridge of Nebraska: Stream renovation underway at Bordeaux Creek WMA Workers have begun a project to improve a stream and its banks at Bordeaux Creek Wildlife Management Area near Chadron. Once again, spreading a news item.  This will be of interest to some of you: Work on Main Ramp Area at Merritt SRA now set to begin June 27 A repair project at the Main Ramp Area at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area has been pushed back slightly. Paddlefish snagging permits accepted July 1-14

Applications for paddlefish snagging permits will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission July 1-14. Applications begin at 1 p.m. Central time July 1. Mail applications must be received by Game and Parks’ Lincoln office by 5 p.m. CT July 14, while online applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. July 14. Two anglers may submit a joint application, but the applicants must both be residents or nonresidents. The lowest preference point total between the two applicants will …

Walleye fry stocking completed at Lake McConaughy

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has completed stocking over 26 million walleye fry in the North Platte River above the reservoir and upper portion of Lake McConaughy. To help increase survival, most fry were stocked from a boat to distribute them into areas with adequate food resources and fewer predators. Beginning in mid-June, an additional 1.5 million walleye fingerlings with an average length between 1.25- to 1.5-inches will be stocked. A portion of those walleye fingerlings will be raised …
