LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is offering special antlerless deer hunting opportunities within Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks (SP), as well as Schramm Park State Recreation Area (SRA). Successful applicants will be issued a special access permit that allows them to hunt antlerless deer in designated areas of a park on certain dates, using specific equipment. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) has many family fishing events across the state each year including two Carp-O-Rama events; one at Pawnee State Recreation Area (SRA) near Lincoln and Lake Maloney SRA south of North Platte, both provide a great opportunity for the public to get out and see what carp fishing is all about. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Omaha office is now open at its new, permanent location. The new office is at 8495 Frederick St., located about a quarter-mile north of Interstate 80. The Omaha office, with its central location, will continue to offer the same services as in the past. In late February, the office was temporarily located downtown at 1313 Farnam St.

Last Saturday was our annual Carp-O-Rama carnival at Pawnee Reservoir.  A lot of folks came out and I hope they had a great time with us and maybe learned a thing or three along the way.  The fishing was slow.  We had a significant rainfall event overnight before the event and I wonder if the carp fishing might have been better at the upper end of the reservoir where there was some water flowing in? Today kicks off the World Cup Soccer competition with many of us watching the matches in Brazil. Throughout history humans have enjoyed kicking a ball or something like a ball in the great outdoors.
