Mulberry Bend WMA boat ramp closed due to damage

LINCOLN, Neb. – The boat ramp at Mulberry Bend Wildlife Management Area in Dixon County is closed temporarily due to damage from recent rains. Rains have caused undercutting and erosion under large portions of the ramp. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is working to repair the ramp. Woman injured in Harlan County Reservoir accident

LINCOLN, Neb. – A 60-year-old Kenesaw woman was injured and hospitalized following a collision of two personal watercraft July 4 at Harlan County Reservoir. The woman and a 33-year-old male relative from Kearney each was operating personal watercraft. As they accelerated to leave Patterson Harbor on the lake’s south shore, the female was struck from behind by the male operator, throwing her into the water. LINCOLN, Neb. – A health alert for harmful algal blooms, also known as toxic blue-green algae, remains in effect at Wagon Train Lake in Lancaster County. LINCOLN, Neb. – Applications for paddlefish snagging permits are being accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission through July 14. Drawing results will be available by July 20. Any permits remaining following the drawing will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. Central time. Applications began at 1 p.m. CT on July 1. Two hundred of these permits will be issued to allow hunters access to the area. The use of rimfire and centerfire weapons is prohibited at Gifford. LINCOLN, Neb. – Roads on several state wildlife management areas (WMAs) remain closed, partially closed or are intermittently closed because of poor conditions. County roads leading to the areas also may be closed.
