Become Certified Nebraska Master Naturalist

LINCOLN, Neb. – Become a certified Nebraska master naturalist at one of four training sessions around the state. Certified naturalists will join a network of conservation volunteers, experience exciting educational and volunteer opportunities with conservation organizations and share their passion for the outdoors. Topics will include Nebraska ecosystems, plants, animals, interpretation, outdoor skills, natural history and conservation. Cornhusker Trapshoot Is May 2-4

LINCOLN, Neb. – The 44th annual Cornhusker Trapshoot is May 2-4 on the home grounds of the Nebraska Trapshooting Association (NTA) in Doniphan. Officials expect approximately 2,400 shooters – which would be a record – to compete. Because of the continued growth and time requirements of the event, some changes have been made for the senior high school shooters this year. LINCOLN, Neb. – Public informational meetings are scheduled across the state in May so landowners can learn about the May 20-June 14 Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) general signup. CRP is a voluntary program that helps agricultural producers use environmentally sensitive land for conservation benefits in exchange for rental payments and cost-share assistance. Living History Scheduled for May 4-5 at Fort Atkinson SHP

LINCOLN, Neb. – Life at an 1820s military post will be depicted at Living History Weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park on May 4-5. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., volunteers will demonstrate period trades, such as blacksmithing, carpentry, tinsmithing and coopering, and crafts such as quilting, spinning and weaving. Valentine Youth Fishing Clinic Set for May 4

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Nebraska Walleye Association and Valentine Lions Club will conduct a youth fishing clinic on May 4 at the Valentine State Fish Hatchery. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and the clinic starts at 10 at the hatchery northeast of Valentine. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. National Walk at Lunch Day to Benefit Nebraska Trails

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska will contribute $20 to the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation for each organization that registers to walk.
