Young Male Mountain Lion Shot in Sheridan County

LINCOLN – A young male mountain lion was shot and killed on the evening of March 8 approximately 5 miles south of Whiteclay in Sheridan County. A homeowner and a neighbor were working outside when they heard growling come from under the porch of the farmhouse. They found the cat growling at them from under the porch. Private Archery Instruction Offered at Outdoor Education Center

LINCOLN – Private instruction for beginner or novice archers is available in the indoor archery range at the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln. The center has a pro staff available to provide everything from setting up or tuning a new bow to archery lessons. These private sessions are available at $30 per hour by reservation only. Game and Parks No Longer Considering Ash Hollow for ATV Park Location

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is no longer considering Ash Hollow State Historical Park as a site for an all-terrain vehicle park. Ash Hollow was a potential site, and the Commission is undertaking a study to determine the cultural resources of the area for any other potential future uses of the park, including a possible future expansion of a cemetery on park land requested by local citizens. Game and Parks Announces Spring Trout Stocking Schedule

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will stock catchable-size rainbow trout in several city ponds and lakes across the state this month. Prescribed Burns of Grasslands Scheduled

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will conduct prescribed burns at several state-owned areas to improve grassland and promote wildlife habitat. Prescribed burning stimulates the growth of desirable grasses and forbs and suppresses invasive tree and brush species. Removing residual grass and trees, especially cedars, also will reduce the fire hazard on these areas. Burns are scheduled, as weather conditions permit, for the following areas, listed by county. Construction Begins on Wildcat Hills Shooting Complex

LINCOLN – Construction has begun on a new, family friendly shooting complex at Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area near Gering.
