greg wagner

A native of Gretna, NE, a graduate of Gretna High School and Bellevue University, Greg Wagner currently serves as the Communications and Marketing Specialist and Manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's Service Center in Omaha. On a weekly basis, Wagner can be heard on a number of radio stations, seen on local television in Omaha, and on social media channels, creatively conveying natural resource conservation messages as well as promoting outdoor activities and destinations in Nebraska. Wagner, whose career at Game and Parks began in 1979, walks, talks, lives, breathes and blogs about Nebraska’s outdoors. He grew up in rural Gretna, building forts in the woods, hunting, fishing, collecting leaves, and generally thriving on constant outdoor activity. One of the primary goals of his blog is to get people, especially young ones, to have fun and spend time outside!

Omaha Deer Check Station Update

Just a short note to let you folks know that we in the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Omaha Office will be checking in deer from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST  during the 9-day regular firearm deer hunting season. Our new location, 8495 Frederick Street, is located about 1/4 mile north of I-80 on 84th Street behind the Bucky’s Gas Station in the Frederick Plaza. The phone number is 402-595-2144. Firearm Deer Season: Enjoying the Experience, Making Memories

We are now just under one week away from the opening day of Nebraska’s largest hunt – the firearm deer hunting season. It opens this Saturday, November 15th. I can hardly wait! This is one of the absolute best times of year to be outside with the deer rut happening! Venison Donation Programs Highlighted on WOWT 6 Outdoors

I’ll be highlighting the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s two venison donation programs on my Weekly TV Outdoor Report airing on Omaha’s WOWT 6 News this evening! The  two programs that support deer donation in Nebraska are Hunters Helping the Hungry (HHH) and the Deer Exchange.
