Southeast state parks seek seasonal workers

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is hiring immediately for seasonal jobs at its state park areas, including the Venture Park region of the Platte River. Openings are for a variety of positions across the state. All experience levels are welcome.

The Venture Parks are Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks, as well as Louisville and Schramm Park state recreation areas.

Opportunities include lifeguard at Mahoney, Platte River and Louisville, and guest services, preparing accommodations in modern cabins and lodge rooms.

Other great hiring opportunities are available at parks such as Indian Cave State Park, where wranglers are needed for horseback rides, and Branched Oak State Recreation Area and Rock Creek State Historical Park, where groundskeeping and visitor center staff are needed.

The hiring rate for these seasonal positions has been increased 33%, starting at $12 an hour, and additional growth opportunities are available.

These positions offer hands-on training in an engaging park environment, where workers can appreciate nature and outdoor recreation. Their service will impact the state’s premier vacation destinations and tourist attractions while benefitting the local economy.
