Swan Lake Boat Ramp Improvements

News release went out late last week:

Boat ramp improvements completed at Swan Lake

LINCOLN, Neb. – Boat ramp improvements at Swan Lake are complete, providing better angler access to this Holt County lake.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission improved the gravel boat ramp on the north side of the lake by placing articulated concrete mats over crushed rock to form a firm concrete bottom for boat access. While still a relatively shallow slope, the 60-foot-long by 16-foot-wide ramp now will accommodate larger boats without the fear of getting stuck.

A floating dock will be placed on the west side of the boat ramp following the spring 2021 ice-out.

Project funding was provided by the Nebraska Game and Parks boating access program and a mix of fishing permit revenue and Federal Aid Sport Fish Restoration funds.

Swan Lake, where a public-access agreement for fishing is in place, is located just off Highway 11 west of Chambers.

I realize that many of you may have already seen then news release.  But, you have not seen the photos!

This is great to see!  It has been a few years since I have been able to fish Swan, but my fishing roots run deep there.  My mom fished those waters when she was just a kid.  Great to know we can still catch fish there!
