Outdoor Education Center provides opportunities for family-friendly summer fun

LINCOLN, Neb. – Families looking to spend time together this summer can find plenty of opportunities to do so at the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center.

Located at 44th and Superior streets in Lincoln, this public archery and firearms range is known for its family friendly atmosphere and emphasis on education. The facility features state-of-the-art air-conditioned indoor archery and firearm ranges, as well as an outdoor archery range. Walk-ins are welcome, and equipment is available for rent if needed. Instructors are easily available to help out anyone who’s new to archery and shooting sports.

The Outdoor Education Center also offers classes, leagues, and other programming throughout the year that provide a non-intimidating introduction to archery and shooting sports, or a helpful leg up for those looking to build their skills. Classes are designed for a range of ages and skill levels, and are led by friendly, experienced instructors.

Currently, openings are available for summer day camps, which keep kids active and provide fun along with hands-on outdoor education.

The indoor archery and firearm ranges are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.; no reservations required. The center is closed on Wednesday.

The outdoor archery range is open from sunrise to sunset 365 days a year.
