Carmin wins Director’s Cup archery tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. – Matt Carmin of Doniphan won the Third Annual Director’s Cup archery tournament Aug. 18 at the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln.

Sixty-six archers of all skill levels gathered for the only archery tournament of its kind in the region. Archers from across Nebraska competed in 11 divisions using the unique Lake of the Woods format, in which archers shoot at varying distances based on age and discipline.

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Director Jim Douglas invited the winner of each division to shoot one arrow at a 2-inch-wide dot at their division’s farthest distance. Championship Division winner Carmin claimed the arrow closest to the center and earned the Director’s Cup.

The division winners and runners-up are: Cub Compound – 1. Carter Anson, 2. Brayden Lurz; Cub Recurve – 1. Vanessa Peterson, 2. Suzy Hanley; NASP – 1. Paige Trevarrow, 2. Zoe Hoffmeyer; Youth Compound – 1. Gage Andersen, 2. Caleb Pobanz; Young Adult Compound – 1. Matilyn Stalder, 2. Hannah Cochran; Collegiate – 1. Shania Hansen; Adult – 1. Robert Gregg, 2. Dustin Wollenburg; Adult Bowhunter Freestyle – 1. Ryan Grubbs, 2. Rusty Hanley; Adult Traditional – 1. Chauncey Wilkins; Adult Freestyle Limited Recurve – 1. Dylan Tegtmeier; Championship – 1. Matt Carmin, 2. Adam Jirovsky
