Game and Parks to Offer Two Free Workshops for Educators

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Project WILD program is now accepting registrations for two free workshops for educators.

A workshop focused on birds will take place on July 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hastings Museum in Hastings. Nebraska is home to more than 450 species of birds. Birds can be found in nearly every kind of habitat in Nebraska and are also easy to see and fun to watch. For these and other reasons, birds present fantastic opportunities for young children to learn about science. This workshop will focus on how early childhood and K-4 elementary educators can use birds to teach science concepts to young children.

A workshop focused on wetlands will take place on July 28 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Heron Haven in Omaha. This workshop, which is designed for elementary and middle school educators, will focus on Nebraska’s wetlands and their conservation, and will include multiple classroom lessons about water and wetlands.

Both workshops are offered at no charge for educators. For more information or to register for the July 21 workshop, please email Lindsay Rogers at lindsay.rogers@nebraska.gov. For more information or to register for the July 28 workshop, please email Monica Macoubrie at monica.macoubrie@nebraska.gov.
