Mahoney State Park to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

LINCOLN – Help Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (SP) celebrate its 25th anniversary at a July celebration.

On July 16, the park will host a celebration from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Activity Center Outdoor Pavilion. The event will feature live music, a rock climbing wall and a bounce house. Visitors can enjoy special prices on park activities at this event and in the weeks preceding it. In addition, the Lodge Restaurant at Mahoney will cater food and beverages at a small fee.

Mahoney SP opened in 1991 and has served millions of visitors who have taken advantage of park offerings, including the Family Aquatic Center, Owen Marina, ice skating rink, and lodging at modern cabins and the Peter Kiewit Lodge. The park is also known for excellent camping, fishing and hiking opportunities.

Roger Kuhn, assistant director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, oversaw the development of Mahoney SP. The park has provided visitors with lifelong memories, he said, and has touched millions of lives in a positive way.

A valid park permit is required for all vehicles entering the park. For more information, call 402-944-2523 or email ngpc.mahoney@nebraska.gov.
