2016 Hunt Permits Required for 2015 Late Seasons

LINCOLN – Now that the calendar has flipped to a new year, late-season hunters and trappers of small game, waterfowl and furbearers must have a 2016 hunt (small game) or fur harvest permit. A 2016 Nebraska Habitat Stamp is also required for most hunts.

The seasons for small game species pheasant, quail, partridge, grouse and squirrel close Jan. 31. Cottontail and jackrabbit seasons close Feb. 29.

Muskrat and beaver trapping ends March 31. The hunting/trapping seasons for bobcat, raccoon, Virginia opossum, long-tailed weasel, mink, red fox, gray fox, and badger end Feb. 29. Waterfowl and crow seasons remain open in many areas and a 2016 habitat stamp is required.

The species-specific 2015 permits are valid for the late doe/fawn antelope season, which closes Jan. 31, and for the late deer season, which ends Jan. 15.

Permits and stamps may be purchased at OutdoorNebraska.org or at Nebraska Game and Parks Commission permitting offices. Visit the website for more information about Nebraska hunting seasons.
