LINCOLN – More than 2,500 shooters are expected to compete in the 46th annual Cornhusker Trapshoot, which will be held April 30-May 2 on the home grounds of the Nebraska Trapshooting Association (NTA) in Doniphan. It would be the fourth year in a row that more than 2,000 shooters would compete.
Competition will take place in individual and team divisions. Junior high students will shoot 100 16-yard targets on April 30. High school competitors will shoot 75 16-yard targets on May 1, then 75 handicap targets on May 2. The high school shooter with the highest combined score will earn the Cornhusker Cup.
The event is open nationwide to all shooters in grades 6-12. Last year, the event drew 933 junior and 1,461 senior high shooters.
The NTA home grounds are located 3 miles south of Interstate 80 exit 312 on U.S. 281. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the NTA are hosts.
