Boating Safety Courses Offered Throughout Nebraska

LINCOLN – Nebraskans preparing for a summer of boating fun should be aware of the state’s boater education requirements.

State law requires that any motorboat operator, including personal watercraft operators, born after Dec. 31, 1985, complete a boating safety course. Those operators also must be in possession of a course certificate when operating the boat. Persons must be at least 14 years of age to operate a motorboat or personal watercraft in Nebraska.

Boating safety certification may be obtained through a six-hour classroom course or via a three-hour home study review/test-out. Classes are offered throughout the state.

Visit BoatSafeNebraska.org for a list of boating safety classes or to view boating regulations.
