Get Outdoors for Great Park Pursuit

LINCOLN, Neb. – Enjoy time outdoors with family and friends and create opportunities to win prizes in the annual Great Park Pursuit.

Registration is open for the 2013 event, which encourages healthy outdoor lifestyles and increases awareness of recreational opportunities through visits to Nebraska parks.

Individuals or teams may visit 20 participating local, state or federal parks May 1 through Sept. 16. They follow clues at each park to locate a post, where they make a tracing of a nature impression. The impressions are mailed to organizers, reflecting the total number of parks visited. The chance of winning prizes increases as more parks are visited.

Visit negpp.org to register or see additional information.

Participating park areas in 2013 are: Gering, Fort Robinson State Park, Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area (SRA), Enders SRA, Maloney Reservoir SRA, McCook, Broken Bow, Calamus SRA, Cowboy Trail at O’Neill, Lewis and Clark SRA, Aurora, Alexandria, Homestead Trail at Roca, Hickman, Lake Wanahoo SRA, Fremont Lakes SRA, Summit Lake SRA, Kirkman’s Cove, Arbor Lodge State Historical Park and Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.

The Pursuit is hosted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Nebraska Recreation and Park Association.
